About Still Waters
Still Waters is a seasonal retreat center in the Last Green Valley of Connecticut, nestled by our private, 10-acre pond, in 100 acres of pine forest. It is our mission to provide the opportunity for guests to unplug from busy life and connect with each other in a natural setting. As social entrepreneurs, we are committed to giving back to the community. We are building a percent for the Arts program to support local artists and a program to help women who were abused. We are committed to caring for the environment in our operations as well. This plan is underway and will unfold as continue renovations and move forward to our Grand re-opening.
We provide a sacred place in which groups can unplug and connect with each other and nature. Because we only host one retreat at a time, each group has the privacy to immerse in its experience un-intruded and uninterrupted.
Still Waters is conveniently located 50 minutes from Hartford, 90 minutes from Boston, and three hours from New York City.
Spring, Summer or Fall in CT is the perfect time to enjoy a retreat, away from the busy and overwhelming stresses of everyday life, and the constant barrage of electronic media. That is why we are proudly a TV-free zone. In respect of healthy minds and bodies, we are also a drug-free, smoke-free retreat. Our guests can enjoy clarity within a peaceful, healing environment.
We offer beautiful grounds, exclusive retreats and seasonal cottages, a guest house and Art & Yoga Studio rental. We also have a Sunrise Yoga Platform that faces the pond, perfect for yoga, meditation or music-making.
Our various retreat groups bring many like-minded people together in a place of healing. We support local artists by purchasing their work and hosting exhibitions. We support the local community by purchasing fresh, local food at local farms and farmers markets. We buy local, sustainable products to build our business whenever possible. We hire local people to work for us on a part-time, freelance basis and plan to hire staff as our business grows.
Still Waters is evolving. We are currently planning the following:
- outdoor showers
- green roofs
- outer dining deck
- hydroelectric power and other sustainable power sources
- composting toilets
- evolution and restoration of Cottage Trinity
- evolution and restoration of Cottage Four Directions
- deep-woods yurts
- meditation tree huts
